Rabiya Choudhry: Give light and people will find the way (Ella Baker)

Craigmillar Library exhibition

7th August 25 - 24th August 25

PAST EVENT: This was part of the EAF25 programme.

Following its original 2023 installation in Leith, 2025 saw Craigmillar Library became the long-term home of Rabiya Choudhry’s illuminated artwork, Give light and people will find the way (Ella Baker).

Part of Choudhry’s Lost Lighting series, the artwork features Andrew Carnegie’s flaming torch motif and words from African-American civil rights activist Ella Baker. The unveiling of this work also coincided with Dear Library, a new exhibition celebrating 100 years of the National Library of Scotland, also featuring Choudhry’s work.
