PAST EVENT: This was part of the EAF25 programme.
To close out EAF25, audiences congregated for an afternoon of open conversation, film screenings, performance, and shared food, centred on the world we live in: how we shape it, and how it shapes us in return.
The intimate gathering brought together artists from across the programme alongside local collectives and thinkers, creating space for reflection and exchange. The event opened with a screening of Vibration from Gaza ذبذبات من غزة by Rehab Nazzal in collaboration with Falastin Film Festival, Scotland’s festival of Palestinian film and culture, focusing on the experiences of Deaf children in the occupied and confined coastal territory of Gaza, Palestine.
This was followed by a presentation from Nour Osseiran of Temporary Art Platform, a Beirut-based nonprofit organisation committed to making another world possible. The presentation explored TAP’s work with the Wester Hailes-based Community Wellbeing Collective, bringing together people from a range of different backgrounds and disciplines to connect over shared food and stories.
Following this was an in-conversation between Professor Dina Kiwan, a disability justice researcher working across the UK, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine, and Dr Nat Raha, a poet and activist-scholar with a focus on transfeminism, collective care, and decolonisation. The discussion focused on disability and healthcare under occupation and Kiwan’s experience as an academic researcher engaging with these topics.
Guests were also welcomed with a bookshop offering from Lighthouse Books, and authentic Lebanese food from local caterers Lazeez.
