Two events, a workshop and a discussion, that follow the lead given by Leonor Antunes’ exhibition in recognising women’s contribution to, and experience of design and architecture. Imagining the first day at a humanist architecture school led by women, architect Akiko Kobayashi will facilitate exercises that enact and explore spatial configurations of people in everyday settings, and then guide participants in the building of simple architectural elements that respond to human activity.
Assembly Discussion

A convivial discussion hosted by Voices of Experience, a collaborative project led by Suzanne Ewing, Jude Barber and Nicola McLachlan that recognises and supports the achievements of women working in architecture and the built environment. During the session the team will discuss their process and methods used to assemble and share voices, experiences, and action. They will be joined by architect Kirsty Maguire they will talk about her great-grandmother Edith Burnet Hughes, Scotland’s first woman to qualify as an architect, as well as touching on some of the women referenced by Leonor Antunes’ in her sculptural installations. A simple meal will be provided free of charge at the start of this event, and the bar will be open to buy any further refreshments. The discussion will begin at 7.15pm.
