‘Memory Is A Museum’ is a two-year research project by Trans Masc Studies, commissioned as part of EAF Civic Programme.
Through weaving together internet-based relics, local collaborations, and the generous contributions of the Scottish trans masculine community, the work questions whose stories are made visible. This project begins to imagine what an archive devoted to trans masculine narratives could become. The resulting publications and artefacts for EAF25 are made to be touched, handled, and taken home — visitors become custodians; the museum expands; memory moves, lives, persists.

Trans Masc Studies is a research project by Ellis Jackson Kroese that looks into the history of trans masculine and trans masculine-adjacent identities and presentations across history. You can read about hundreds of historical trans masculine figures here.
Public call out:
Trans Masc Studies are still looking to connect with masculine-leaning gender diverse people across Scotland from 2025-26, continuing to building a physical record of Scottish trans history and show the full breadth of the culture and the possibilities of trans life.
