Hamish Halley: please keep Artist Talk with Audio Description

EAF25 Pavilion event

14th August 25

PAST EVENT: This was part of our 2025 programme.

Join Early Career Artist-in-Residence Hamish Halley and artist Louise Fraser at the EAF Pavilion for a guided, audio described talk and sharing session discussing Halley’s work exhibited at The People’s Story Museum for EAF25.

Hamish Halley presents a poignant video piece that intertwines two narratives: the intimate act of cleaning his grandparents’ home after their passing and the monumental transition of the Perth Museum’s collection to a new space.

During August, the film work will be hosted by The People’s Story Museum, a museum dedicated to capturing the lives of working class people in Edinburgh throughout history. Situated amongst the Museum’s displayed tools of work, printed flyers and posters, and tableaux depicting scenes from day-to-day life, Halley’s film reflects on custodianship, preservation, loss, and renewal.

About Audio Description

This event will be audio described by Louise Fraser.
Louise Fraser is a dyslexic, neurodiverse freelance artist and access educator, who has collaborated with EAF and partners in past years to deliver audio description training and tours. Designed with the main goal of making visual art more engaging for visually impaired visitors, audio description uses speech and touch to interact with artworks in new ways, expanding every visitors’ experience.

! Includes discussion of grief, the loss of grandparents, emotional attachment to objects, and reflections on family relationships.

Hamish Halley: Early Career Artist-in-Residence is part of EAF X Outer Spaces: HOST. Supported by the Hugo Burge Foundation, the Fenton Arts Trust, the Scottish Government’s Festivals EXPO Fund, the People’s Story Museum and The City of Edinburgh Council.
