Walking Routes Around The City
We’ve created some walking routes to help you explore the city’s galleries, museums and public artworks on foot.
As galleries and museums reopen after an extended period of lockdown, we have included the most up to date details of opening information where possible, but as these may change, please do visit their individual websites for the latest updates and requirements for planning your visit.
Please bear in mind that Edinburgh city centre is a multi-layered landscape, containing lots of steep streets and steps – while we’ve incorporated suggested alternative routes to avoid steps, there may be unexpected accessibility challenges, but please feel free to get in touch with any specific questions and we will do our best to help.
New Town – Old Town
Start: Ingleby, Barony Street
End: Dovecot Studios, Infirmary Street
Distance: 1.8 miles / 3 km
Note: This route contains moderate/steep slopes and steps (alternative step-free routes suggested)
