This gift donation of £45 will go towards an artist's fee for delivering an event within our community engagement programme for vulnerable families in Edinburgh.
'Art and creative thinking reassures you that it’s perfectly ok not to get things right the first time round. And also never lose hope and keep on persevering.' – Participant, Thistle Foundation.
Your support will contribute to a series of workshops supporting vulnerable families with children under the age of 10, to play and make together through unique workshops led by an artist. Workshops can help strengthen family bonds, and improve communication through creativity.
More about the programme:
Edinburgh Art Festival Community Engagement is an ongoing programme of learning and inclusion activities, which puts the city’s communities at the heart of the festival and cultural production. The programme builds long-term relationships with contemporary artists, partners and community organisations, groups, schools and audiences. Through tailored tours, workshops and projects, often co-facilitated with an artist or specialist, we offer participants unique experiences; introducing and inspiring people of all ages to get creative. The programme unlocks the city, and develops cultural projects in communities, removing barriers and broadening access to visual art and expression, with partnership community commission projects the keystone to our work in communities.
Between 2019-2022, we are working in partnership with WHALE Arts, a community-led charity, social-enterprise and cultural anchor organisation, whose mission is to be the creative heart of a vibrant, thriving Wester Hailes, working together to create a programme of activities, leading to the development of a public artwork commission in 2022, benefitting the community, and having legacy for years to come.
