PAST EVENT: This was part of the EAF25 programme.
In this ongoing research project by Trans Masc Studies, artist and researcher Ellis Jackson Kroese traced the histories of masculine-leaning gender diversity in Scotland.
Memory Is A Museum began to imagine what an archive devoted to trans masculine narratives could become. This took the form of the fictional Museum of Trans Masculinity, imagined in an archive display, speculative exhibitions guide exploring aspects of trans masculine history, and wearable gift shop merchandise.
Through weaving together internet-based relics, local collaborations, and the generous contributions of the Scottish trans masculine community, the work questioned whose stories are made visible. The artefacts were made to be touched, handled, and taken home — visitors become custodians; the museum expands; memory moves, lives, persists.
