SCORE Young People’s Exhibition at WHALE Arts

WHALE Arts

Artist Fadzai Mwakutuya has been invited to work with SCOREscotland young people’s group to create responses to the Union Canal, exploring the relationship between humans, technology, and nature. The installation will include a variety of materials, including projection, textiles, and light. Presented in WHALE Arts’ Performance Space, abstract designs hand printed on lampshades with elements of natural materials including seaweed and found objects symbolise memories, contemporary life, and the changing seasons.

Based in the rural Scottish Highlands, Fadzai Mwakutuya is a professional visual artist originally from Zimbabwe. Her practice attributes to her sense of identity, place, and environment.

Since 2019, Edinburgh Art Festival have partnered with SCOREscotland, a social justice organisation based in Wester Hailes. Since 2021, we have worked with artist and programmer Natasha Thembiso Ruwona, to develop a programme of activities introducing the young people’s group to artists of colour.
