Rosie’s Disobedient Press: In Conversation

Leith Library event

18th August 24 - 18th August 24

Join Rosie’s Disobedient Press for an in-conversation event exploring their research within the archives of Scotland, both their findings and what they found to be, crucially, missing.

For EAF24, Rosie’s Disobedient Press, a collaborative project by artists Lisette May Monroe and Adrien Howard, present their work within archives and organisations local to Edinburgh, seeking information on the history of protest in Edinburgh and bringing hidden stories to the fore. They look at language and words as a historical act of resistance and how this relates to activism in the modern day.

Rosie’s will present their archive material findings in the form of print, on clothing, across windows and banners throughout the city including at the EAF24 Welcome Space, dispersing across the city like protestors after a march. Running in collaboration with Glasgow International Festival (7 – 23 June 2024) and working with designer Mitchell F. Gilles, this work reflects on the often overlooked enclaves of a city during times of cultural spectacle.

Care considerations: The work will speak openly about queer histories and protest within Edinburgh.

This work is generously supported by JACK ARTS Scotland, part of the BUILDHOLLYWOOD family, Edinburgh World Heritage, and Scottish Government’s Festivals EXPO Fund.

Tickets coming soon.
