Join artist Karol Radziszewski and art historian Cole Collins as they explore the history of underground queer magazines across Central Eastern-Europe, Germany, and Scotland.
This event is in connection with Karol Radziszewski’s exhibition Filo, co-commissioned with Auto Italia. The exhibition collects rare photographs and ephemera tracing the history of Filo Magazine, one of the first underground queer magazines in Central-Eastern Europe, founded by activist Ryszard Kisiel. Alongside, Radziszewski presents his paintings of queer, Central-Eastern European historical figures, hung in a style recalling Eastern Bloc propaganda portraits.
Dr Cole Collins is a Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Art History at Edinburgh College of Art, the University of Edinburgh, with focuses including German visual cultures (20th + 21st Centuries), collage, queer theory, feminism, and spatial studies.

Care considerations: This discussion may contain references to homophobia and anti-queer sentiment, as well as imagery of nude photography and illustrated materials.
This event will be BSL Interpreted.
Karol Radziszewski’s exhibition Filo is co-curated with Auto Italia, and supported by the PLACE Programme, a partnership between Edinburgh Festivals, Scottish Government, City of Edinburgh Council and Creative Scotland.
