Johnstone Terrace Wildlife Garden: Palm House and Mud Oven

Johnston Terrace Wildlife Garden event

28th July 22 - 28th August 22

PAST EVENT: This was part of the EAF22 programme.

Scotland’s smallest urban nature reserve is home to Bobby Niven’s Palm House, created for EAF’s 2017 Festival-led programme as a response to its surroundings. Accompanied by a hand-built mud oven, the project is conceived as a social sculpture — a space for production and exchange, inviting exploration, delight and wonder. As part of EAF22 the space also hosted a pop-up reading room, alongside activity from Rhubaba’s 2022 projects.

Mud Oven Afternoons

On Fridays throughout the festival, visitors had the opportunity to see the mud oven in action, and make their own pizzas! Mud Oven afternoons allowed visitors to experience the wildflower meadow, joined by some of the collaborators from the EAF22 programme.
