PAST EVENT: This was part of the EAF25 programme.
For EAF25, EAF and Beirut-based feminist art collective Haven for Artists hosted celebrations of the UK launch of their new print publication: I Will Always Be Looking For You: A Queer Anthology on Arab Art.
Hosted at Custom Lane, the panel conversation featured editorial and creative director Yasmine Rifaii, editorial and research director Nadim Choufi, translator Rayyan Abdel Khalek, and team leader Dayna Ash. The panel was moderated by writer and activist-scholar Nat Raha, creating a space for critical, personal, and political dialogue around queer Arab artmaking, archiving, and authorship.
About the Book
I Will Always Be Looking For You: A Queer Anthology on Arab Art is a radical, four-year-long project created in response to the systemic erasure of queer voices in mainstream examinations of Arab art. This anthology gathers the works of 55 artists and writers from 13 Arabic-speaking countries in a wide range of genres. Together, the works document and expand the definition of queerness in the Arab world — not as a fixed identity, but as a generative force, a method, a rupture, and a refusal.
