This is a past exhibition.
Travelling Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in a bus, presents a new exhibition by Gabecare, a collaborative art project between Rachel Adams and Tessa Lynch investigating the domestic mess of 21st century living. Found in the remnants of dirty dishwater and limescale build-up of toilet bowls, Gabecare is inspired by the little known inventor Frances Gabe, whose hatred for cleaning became her life’s work with her continuing efforts to design a Self-Cleaning House.
Gabecare, just like their namesake, seek to devote themselves to cleanliness whilst continually belittling it. In a constant state of ‘un-tidying’ this project exposes the mess at the centre of our daily lives, embracing and revelling in its unravelling.
