El Anatsui:  Scottish Mission Book Depot Keta | Audio Descriptive Tour

Talbot Rice Gallery event

19th September 24 - 19th September 24

Join Louise Fraser and Sarah Leal on this audio-descriptive tour of El Anatsui’s exhibition for EAF24.

Scottish Mission Book Depot Keta is the most significant exploration of the work of one of Africa’s most prominent artists ever staged in the UK. Working with found objects in wood and metal, El Anatsui has been reclaiming, reusing, and transforming materials for decades.

This show comprises a selection of wooden reliefs, printed works on paper, as well as his iconic, large-scale sculptural wall hangings, constructed by linking together thousands of individual metal bottle tops reclaimed from the bottling industry in Ghana and Nigeria. An extraordinary new 13-metre-wide artwork has been made specially for Talbot Rice Gallery.

Care considerations:
This tour will be delivered live as an audio-described tour with an English voiceover. There is step-free access throughout the building. Accompanying materials have been provided by the artist to feel and share the textures of these intricate works.
