Alberta Whittle: create dangerously

National Galleries Scotland: Modern One exhibition

1st April 23 - 7th January 24

This immersive exhibition is the largest showing of Alberta Whittle’s work to date. Through poetic and symbolic artworks, Whittle addresses colonialism, the transatlantic trade in enslaved people, and the climate crisis.

She highlights Scotland’s complicity in white supremacy, promoting compassion and collective care to resist racism and anti-Blackness, and offering a message of hope for a world outside these damaging systems.

Whittle will present a new performance on 13 August, co-commissioned by EAF and National Galleries of Scotland.

Supported by Baillie Gifford and Art Fund.
