EAF for Kids

eaf 08 storytelling tours

There were lots of events and activities for children and families to participate in at the 2009 Edinburgh Art Festival and best of all they were almost entirely free. You could enjoy a festival day out and still afford a slap up meal at the end of the day.  There were a range of storytelling events taking place in several galleries across the city (see below), and for the young at heart StickerCurator lets you get your hands on the Art Festival with 90 stickers of images from this year’s Festival. Try hunting down the real art works; sticking your favourites onto the StickerCurator worksheet below to curate your dream exhibition; plan your trip using the online StickerCurator map or simply have them as a memento of your trips to galleries.

Download the StickerCurator worksheet below.

See below for the storytelling tours or workshops from the 2009 Festival.

EAF Children's Storytelling Tours
Ewan McVicar: Russian Stories for Families
Illustrated Storytelling with James Mayhew, Author of the Katie Books
Jupiter Artland Festival Workshops

Don't worry if you couldn't make it along to any of these events as there are plenty of great exhibitions to engage young minds this summer, as well as events at next year's Festival. We think the following exhibitions were particularly fun for children:

Edinburgh College of Art
Corn Exchange Gallery
doggerfisher
Dovecot
Edinburgh Printmakers
Jupiter Artland
Scottish National Portrait Gallery
New Media Scotland

...but with active imaginations and enquiring minds all the exhibitions in this year's programme provided a doorway to magical day out, and we'll keep you posted on the 2010 EAF for Kids line-up!
